We all know that the World Radio TV Handbook is an invaluable resource for radio hobbyists. I make sure I pick up a copy every year. The latest edition - Volume 72 - 2018 - was released in December and, as always, it makes for great reading and in-depth research.

Over the past three years, I have not purchased it as soon as the new publication became available. Instead, I've been buying my copy in January. Why? Well, I already have access to all the station schedules and lists I need for the B17 transmission season. So I can live without that part of the book. And I can wait a little longer to read the new articles presented in each edition.

So, why pay "top dollar" for the book when, if you are happy to wait around 4-5 weeks, you can buy the book at a significant discount to the publisher's cover price. There is a big difference when buying and shipping the book to Australia. Here's the math:

Buy in December direct from the publisher:
£35.00 + £10 postage = £45.00 = A$77.90

Wait until January and buy online from Amazon:
US$44.31 + US$10 postage = US$54.31 = A$68.14

Wait until January and buy online from Book Depository:
A$40.28 + FREE postage = A$40.28

This year, I ordered from Book Depository on January 7. It was dispatched from the UK on December 10, and arrived here at Mount Evelyn today, January 17! Post free!! Great service!
