BIG STORMS HIT MOUNT EVELYN
If you were wondering why there have not been any blog posts recently, we had a big storm hit last Wednesday, June 9. Plenty of rain, but the winds were at gale force strength and blew for around 14 hours. It resulted in lots of destruction right through the Yarra Ranges and Mount Dandenong.
Fortunately, our home was saved. We lost three beautiful big trees in our driveway. If the wind had been blowing in the opposite direction, one of the trees would have split our house in two. The other two trees also narrowly missed the homes of our two neighbours, falling into the yards of both properties. Frightening stuff!
We also lost a 7 x 10m shade sail and fencing, while the driveway suffered some damage as well. Our power and Internet were off for three days. But many residents had it much worse - some have been told that the power will not be back on until June 20. It's making for a very cold winter for some in our community!

Added: I've just come back from a walk around the neighbourhood. We are lucky! There are houses STILL without power after nearly a week. These two shots below of lines down due to a broken pole and the local reserve where the playground is covered in debris and where nine tall gum trees fell.
Amazingly, all my antennas are still standing! 👏👏😅
Right now, we are quite busy cleaning up and waiting for the insurance assessors to arrive. So, I'll have to get back to the Mount Evelyn DX Report blog in a little while.
73 and good DX to you all,
