4774.9 PERU. R. Tarma - Tarma, JunÃn. Surprised to hear this in high summer, but the weak signal was quite readable at 1054. A radio production program combining story telling about families with singing, all mashed together. Interesting. At 1058, a choral rendition of "Ave Maria". Full ID at 1100 with mention of both MW and SW frequencies, then into news reports with background music. I also checked the online R. Tarma audio and found it about 1 minute behind the terrestrial signal. Faded out by 1105, Jan 20.
4955 PERU. R. Cultural Amauta - Huanta. Laid back song with Andean pipes accompaniment and occasional dialogue over the top at 1044. Weakish signal but good for a noisy summer evening, Jan 20.
6155 FRANCE. R. Algerienne - Issoudun. Today's transmission began EXACTLY at 2100, bursting straight into Qur'an recitations and flattening the CNR 2 station that had signed on just 5 minutes earlier (2055). Female announcer with ID and anncts at 2104. Then moved into French news at 2105. Changed back to Arabic at 2114 followed by more Qur'an prayers. One of the strongest signals at this time as this band begins to close down for the remainder of this summer morning, Jan 17.
6170 D.P.R.KOREA. VoK - Kujang. KCBS programming with "news" and "commentary" at 2045, a generally fair but variable signal on Jan 17.
7280 VIETNAM. VoV - Son Tay. English to Eu at 2145, weak signal, // 9730 also heard and also weak. Jan 17.
9690 SPAIN. REE - Noblejas. Live Sunday football coverage at 1806, good signal, Jan 22.
9900 Shortwaveservice - LOCATION UNKNOWN. Test transmission between 1200 and 1300 to SEAs and Australia. Rock music and test anncts at regular intervals throughout the broadcast. Excellent signal and no QRM, so a good choice of frequency on this occasion. Jan 15.
11965 BULGARIA. Dimtse Radio Erna - Kostinbrod. Horn of Africa music at 1750, echo ID and frequency annct at 1759, off at 1801. good signal on Jan 22.
13580 KUWAIT. R. Mashaal - Umm al-Rimam. Pasto ballad at 0945, then an interview at 0948, poor signal on the 14 mHz Double Bazooka antenna, Jan 20.
13690 USA. WHRI - Cypress Creek. American preaching at 0950, WHRI ID at 0959 then s/off, good signal, Jan 20.
13740.03 IRAN. VOIRI - Sirjan. Dari service at 1006 to CAs, music programming with a rather haunting melody, fair to good signal, Jan 20.
17570 SAUDI ARABIA. BSKSA - Riyadh. Qur'an recitations at 0930, heard under the slightly stronger CRI's English to Eu. // 17615 also heard and slightly better signal there, Jan 20.
17720 PALAU. WHRI - Medorn. American religious programming at 0315, weak signal, Jan 22.
17820 PHILIPPINES. Radyo Pilipinas - Tinang. At 0303 with English programming and a segment on the sayings of Alexander the Great, then into American music selections. A weak and variable signal and running // with 17700 on Jan 22.
