49 METRE BAND BAND SCAN
Yesterday morning (March 13, 2018), I filmed a scan I did of the 49-metre shortwave band between 2035 and 2059 UTC from the Mount Evelyn radio shack. This is 7:35 to 7:59 am AEDT and the band proved to be quite busy. Stations heard included Amhara State Radio and Radio Fana (both from Ethiopia), Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, Voice of America via the São Tomé relay station, Radio Algerienne, and many others. The YouTube video below demonstrates the receiving facilities in the Yaesu FTDX3000 transceiver. It also shows some examples of tuning techniques that I use to pick transmissions out of the noise.
The audio on the video was taken directly from the receiver's external speaker jack, put through the Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer and directly into the camera's external microphone jack.
As always, thanks for watching!
73 and good DX to you all,
