A21 SCHEDULES ONLINE

A21 SCHEDULES ONLINE Time and frequency changes for the A21 transmission season begin this Sunday, March 28. Here are some links to help you find where your favourite shortwave broadcaster has gone for the next six months: NHK - Radio Japan Quite a few changes here and several services discontinued. Unfortunately, the schedule is scattered with listings for FM relays, so a bit confusing to look at at first glance! https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/ja/information/brochure/pdf/2021/radio_frequency_schedule.pdf Radio New Zealand Pacific (RNZI) 7245 and 6170 kHz and some time changes are the notable adjustments to this schedule. https://www.rnz.co.nz/international/listen Radio Romania International The English service schedule can be found at here: https://www.rri.ro/en_gb/rri_2021_summer_broadcast_frequencies-2633931 Deutsche Welle A mere shadow of its former self, DW has the shortest schedule list I have ever seen from them, showing just Amharic and Hausa languages. At least they sho...

STATION NEWS AND DX QUICK TIPS - March 20, 2021

STATION NEWS AND DX QUICK TIPS March 20, 2021 Although the propagation numbers have been somewhat mediocre over the past week, there were still opportunities for signals to get through the noise.  Over the past 48 hours, I ran three WSPR beacons across a number of HF ham bands - each one at just 200mW, plus some time spent in receive mode logging beacons from other locations. Undoubtedly, the two best bands were the 40 and 30-meter amateur bands. Of course, the corresponding 41 and 31-meter international broadcast bands have also offered excellent reception opportunities. Take a look at my statistics from my low power transmitters on this map below from the PSK Reporter site (compiled by the VK7JJ website): The VK3BVW WSPR spotted over a 48-hour period (Click on the map to enlarge) Nameplate on the Fu Hsing broadcasting building. TAIWAN - Fu Hsing Broadcasting Station A note just received from Ron Howard (Asilomar State Beach, Calif., USA) today has an observation on this st...

Radio Kuwait QSL circa 1975 DX QUICK TIPS March 14, 2021 The Autumnal (Fall) Equinox for the Southern Hemisphere will take place on March 20. This is one of two times in the year when there are roughly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. In the Northern Hemisphere, the March equinox is called the Vernal (Spring) Equinox. The Sun shines directly over the equator. It is during these times of the year when we often find that propagation can change and improve towards certain areas of the world. Listen out to see if reception conditions change for some of your favourite shortwave broadcasters during the coming Equinox on and around March 20! In addition, the last weekend in March will see the changeover to the new A21 transmission season. Expect numerous frequency changes from most of the international broadcasters, as they make adjustments for their transmissions to different parts of the world. This week's DX quick tips include a range of observations from across the sho...
