DX QUICK TIPS  and  STATION NEWS December 1, 2018 DX QUICK TIPS Some interesting signals have appeared on the shortwave bands this past week. Here are some of my monitoring observations: 👍 3930   KOREA REP. Voice of the People - Goyang, Gyeonggi-do. Korean talks at 1203, some jamming noted but the signal was generally copyable. // 3480 where there was no jamming and a good signal, Nov 28. 👍👍 4760   ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLAND. AIR - Port Blair. Noted at 1210 with lovely female vocals and anncts in Hindi or possibly one of the local languages. Over the years, the station has been noted at various times in a variety of languages including Hindi, Nicobarese, Tamil, Sanskrit, Telegu, Bengali, Malayalam and English. Hausa to WAf with commentaries and news reports at 0610. Fair signal, Nov 12. 7295   FRANCE. RFI - Issoudun. Hausa to CAf at 0615 with ID and news reports, weak signal, Nov 12. 7335   FRANCE. R. Nigeria Kaduna - Issoudun. “The Other Nigeria” with Hausa at WAf at 0620. Afro music programming and anncts, weak signal, Nov 12. 7345   ASCENSION IS. BBC - Ascension. English WS to CAf at 0625 with a discussion. A weak signal which was flattened by the RRI-Tiganesti English service at 0628, Nov 12. 7420   INNER MONGOLIA. PBS Nei Menggu - Hohhot. An early fade-in at 0630 with commentaries, a weak signal at the start, but improved after 0800, Nov 12. VIDEO BAND SCAN 49 mb - NOVEMBER 13, 2018 B18 TRANSMISSION SEASON On November 13, 2018, I filmed a scan of the 49-metre shortwave band between 2005 and 2015 UTC from the Mount Evelyn radio shack. This is 7:05 to 7:15 am AEDT and the band proved to be quite busy. This video scan was my first for the new B18 transmission season. The YouTube video below demonstrates the receiving facilities in the Yaesu FTDX3000 transceiver. The audio on the video was taken directly from the receiver's external speaker jack, put through the Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer and directly into the camera's external microphone jack. DX QUICK TIPS November 2, 2018 The B18 transmission season began last Sunday and there have been plenty of frequency changes. Most notably, CRI has moved around many of its services.
