From the Logbook......

9510   SINGAPORE.  BBC - Kranji. Noted in Burmese at 0015-0030 and then Bengali at 0030-0100. Weak but pleasing to hear it in our late morning.

11520   USA. WEWN - Vandiver, AL. Virtually the only strong signal on the band at 0110 (summer midday reception my local time!). Fascinating to see this one hanging on so long! Still noted past 0200 and eventually faded out by 0215.

11540   EGYPT. R. Cairo - Abu Zaabal. At times, this service can be difficult to hear into Mount Evelyn, but at 2130 this morning it was quite well heard. However, it faded rapidly by 2145. Arabic programming, with long talks, possibly political in nature.

11605   TAIWAN.  RTI - Tanshui. Vietnamese service at 0018 with a music program, s/off at 0030. Fair to poor level and the band to Asia was just about closed at this time.

11620   INDIA. AIR - Bengaluru. The Urdu service noted at 0200 with a fair signal. One of only two signals on the band at 1pm local time in summer. Interesting reception.

11635   TAIWAN.  RTI - Paochung. Mandarin service s/on 2200 with a lovely signal and no jamming. But by 2245, some light program jamming was noted. On the other hand, the parallel 11885 outlet (Hu Wei transmitter) was subjected to jamming right from the start at 2200.

11740   INDIA.  AIR - Panaji. Sinhala service at 0050 to s/off 0115, fair level and one of the few signals on the band at this time.  Noting heard from the parallel freq of 11985.

11740   INDIA (again).  AIR - Panaji.  Signing on at 0215 for the Pashto service with ID and straight into music. Continued right through with the Dari service at 0300 till 0345 s/off. Fair to poor level for most of the transmitting period.

11760   CUBA.  R. Havana. Spanish first noted at 0250 with a poor signal. Gained a little strength around 0330 when a full ID was noted.

11780   SINGAPORE.  R. Australia - Kranji. Heard at s/on 0100 in Burmese. Faded by 0110.

11825   ROMANIA. R. Romania Inter - Tiganesti. Spanish s/on at 0300 with a fairly mediocre signal for much of the transmission till s/off 0357.

11840  CUBA.  R. Havana. Spanish to Sth America first noted at f/in 0240 when quite weak but began to grow stronger past 0330. Not always heard at this early time in our summer.

11935   FRENCH GUIANA. R. Japan - Montsinery. Japanese service noted from 0245 to 0400 s/off, generally poor to fair throughout.

13362   GUAM.  AFRTS (AFN) - Barrigada. Fair level at 0350.

13580   SRI LANKA.  Mashaal Radio - Iranawila. S/on 0400 in Pashto at a fair strength after the barely audible VOA Somali service closed by 0400. The change in the antenna beam heading was enough to kick the signal up quite a bit!

15370   GUAM.  AWR Guam - Agat. Instrumental music at 2210, leading up to a full ID and frequency announcement in English at 2300, then a program in Mandarin. Lovely signal but with some rapid fading as the changing daytime Pacific ionospheric conditions established itself.
Antennas at WEWN

15610   USA.  WEWN - Vandiver, AL. English religious programming at 2310, at fair level when I first tuned in, but within 10 minutes the signal got pretty wobbly! Eventually faded out by 2330.
