2368.5 AUSTRALIA. Radio Symban. F/in 0645, very weak at first but rapidly become stronger. I'm trying to get a handle on the operating schedule for this one. Hoping to have a more complete schedule soon.
3310 BOLIVIA. R. Mosoj Chaski, Cochabamba. First noted at 1010 on Feb 7 and very surprised to hear this weak signal in our mid-summer non-Latin season. Being on a clear channel helps! Program appeared to be largely talk and then it was gone by 1025.
5925 VIETNAM. Voice of Vietnam - Xuan Mai. Domestic service - Network 2 - at 0935 with Vietnamese talks, fair level and noted before China's CNR 5 network signs on at 1000.
6070 BRAZIL. R. Capital (presumed) - Rio De Janeiro. Noted with earnest Portuguese talks at 0956 in the four minute gap of silence between programs of the Voice of Korea - Kanggye. Once Korea fired up again at 1000, there was no hope of hearing R. Capital. Believed to be relaying Super Radio Deus e Amor program at this time.
6134.85 BOLIVIA. R. Santa Cruz. Came up out of the mud at 1013 with a ballad, short announcement and into more up-tempo songs with heavy Andean influence. A serves of rapid announcements at 1023 and what sounded like an ID (but can't be sure on that!), then into more music. Back into the mud by 1035. At its best, the signal was fair to poor - BUT it was nice to hear it at this time of the year (summer, non-Latin season). Feb 6
And then the next day - Feb 7 - 0920 UTC - Santa Cruz back again with an impressive signal on this occasion - peaking S9 on the meter at times! Bolivian pops and a long conversational style of chat on local affairs at 0925 with one mention of Santa Cruz. More music at 0942. ID at 0945 and lots of mentions of Bolivia. Signal strength deteriorated from around 1000, but it was still audible right up till 1050. Measured as 6134.83 this day.
6154.9 BOLIVIA. R. Fides - La Paz. Fair signal with talk at 0950. But then it got smashed by China's CNR 2 at its 1000 s/on!
Three stations were noted signing on in the 1100 time period this evening (Feb 6) on frequencies just outside the 49 mb:
6220 TAIWAN. Family Radio - Huwei, in Burmese. Good signal
6240 TAIWAN. Family Radio - Paochung, in Mandarin. Even better signal!
6270 KOREA. MND Radio, s/on at 1059 in Korean. Carrier was strong but the audio was well down. No jamming observed here.
Early afternoon reception in the 25mb (mid-summer). Not much else on the band besides these three below on Feb 5:
11620 INDIA. AIR - Bengaluru. Nice early afternoon reception of the Urdu service at 0330, fair to good level.
11740 INDIA. AIR - Panaji. Fair reception of the Dari service at 0335, not as strong as 11620.
11770 IRAN. VOIRI - Sirjan. English news at 0330 s/on, fair strength.
18910 AUSTRIA. R. Oesterreich Int. - Moosbrunn. German service 0900-0935, every day except Sunday. Fair signal on most occasions, can be patchy with rapid fading at times. I wonder if anyone is listening to this broadcast on this isolated frequency?
21510 IRAN. VOIRI - Kamalabad. Swahili service 0830-0930. Reception has been variable in recent days.
21670 SAUDI ARABIA. R. Riyadh's daily Indonesian service is usually a booming signal with its 500 kW, but reception was quite poor on Feb 5.
