From the Logbook....

A big list of stations got into the logbook this past week including some Latins on 60mb, early afternoon 31mb signals, some later afternoon 41mb broadcasters and lots more heard in the mid afternoon on the 13mb.

The TS2000 transceiver was working overtime this week!!  :-)

Read on.......

60 Metre Band:
4774.96   PERU.  R. Tarma - Junin. Weak at 1015 with songs and excited announcements.  Some longer anncts and talk at 1018. Should improve as we draw closer to the winter DX season.

4785   BRAZIL.  R. Caiari - Porto Velho. Religious program at 0955. Then a series of canned announcements and adverts from 1003, some pop songs from 1007. Weak signal, rising and falling in strength at times.

4815   BRAZIL.  R. Difusora, Londrina. Long preaching session in religious programming at 0940. Very weak and never really improved over 20 minutes of concentrated listening. Should improve during the coming winter months.

49 Metre Band:

Here in Melbourne, the 41mb is starting to open up a little earlier in the afternoons. The following stations were heard after 4pm local time:

7275   TUNISIA.  RTV Tunisia - Sfax. Early f/in 0530 in Arabic. Not a bad signal.

7360   VATICAN.  VR - S. Maria di Galeria.  Portuguese at 0540, nice signal.

7475   GREECE.  VoGreece - Avlis.  Greek service at 0545. Fair.

31 Metre Band:
And here's a list of stations noted in the 31mb in our early afternoon in south eastern Australia. The significance of these? Well, its the first I've heard these at this time (this early in my afternoon) since about November. It indicates that the seasons are indeed changing - as we come into autumn, this band will begin to really liven up. By winter it will be open for most of the day.

The following stations were noted from 0300 - 0345:

9395   ARMENIA.  VoRussia - Yerevan. Spanish to Nth & Central America

9420   GREECE.  VoGreece - Avlis.  Greek to Europe.

9485   VATICAN.  VOA - S. Maria di Galeria. Somali to EAf (s/on 0330)

9500   IRAN.  VOIRI - Sirjan. Arabic to ME (s/on 0330)

9535   SPAIN.   REE - Noblejas.  Spanish to NA. Booming signal.

9570   ALBANIA.  CRI - Cerrik.  Mandarin to NA.  Another monster signal.

9620   SPAIN.   REE - Noblejas.  Spanish to Sth Am

9640   ENGLAND.  VoVietnam - Woofferton.  English to NA (s/on 0330)

9690   SPAIN.  RCI - Noblejas.  English to NA. Weak.

9740   IRAN.  VOIRI - Kamalabad. Arabic to NAf

9750   ARMENIA. VoRussia - Yerevan. Spanish to Sth Am

9765   ROMANIA.  RRI - Galbeni. Spanish to NA

9870   ROMANIA.  RRI - Tiganesti.  Spanish to Sth Am

9895   IRAN.  VOIRI - Zahedan.  Arabic to Mid East

9930   USA.  Family R. - Okeechobee.  Spanish to C Am

9965   EGYPT.  R. Cairo - Abu Zaabal.  Arabic to NA (low audio)

13 Metre Band:
Following on from my recent post 21 mHz Signals Make Spectacular Appearance regarding an exciting 13mb opening in my late evening last week, here are some more broadcasts, this time noted in the mid to late afternoon:

21500   ROMANIA.  RRI - Tiganesti.  Chinese service s/on 0500 for the 30 minute service to Asia. Fair level.

21540   NORTHERN MARIANAS.  RFA - Tinian. Mandarin service with a strong signal and only light jamming at 0415. However, by 0645 the jamming had become significantly stronger. S/off 0700.

21570   PHILIPPINES.   VOA - Tinang. Tibetan service at 0425, very strong with hardly any jamming interference. Lovely signal.

21600   IRAN.  VOIRI - Sirjan.  30 minute service in Russian to Central Asia at 0500. The signal was quite strong but the audio was down and accompanied by hum.

21600   ROMANIA.  RRI - Tiganesti.  English service s/on 0630. Fair signal.

21695   UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.  RFA - Dhabbaya. Tibetan service 0600 - 0700 with moderate Firedrake jamming. // 21610 also heavily jammed but with a talk show instead of music!

21700.  NORTHERN MARIANAS.  RFA - Tinian. Mandarin at 0525, poor under much heavier jamming than the frequencies on this band.

21780   UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.  DW - Dhabbaya. Hausa service 0630 - 0700. Fair strength.

21800   RUSSIA.  VoRussia - Irkutsk.  s/on 0600 English through to 1000 s/off. A mighty signal most days here and much stronger than the // 21820 in the same time period.

I hope you find something of interest in the above loggings. Best 73,

Rob VK3BVW
