From the Logbook....

Following on from the two recent posts relating to the A 13 Transmitting Season (New Freqs - A13 Season and More Freakin' New Freqs), here are some more frequency changes observed over recent days, including a series of changes for Radio Free Sarawak and Radio Pakistan. However, there's hasn't been much success on the low frequencies. Conditions between 3 and 5 mHz have been relatively poor with only average signal levels and high atmospheric noise. Hopefully things will improve in coming weeks as we approach the coming winter LF DX season.

6150   AUSTRALIA.  RA - Shepparton. NF for English 1045. Cuba's interval signal heard faintly in the background at 1056 but no threat to RA here! Apr 14.

7200.1   MYANMAR. Myanmar R. - Yegu. Bamar (Burmese) at 1245 with light local pops, a lovely signal until the strong CRI s/on at 1300 on 7205. It was // 7185.7 which was a weak signal and occasionally intermittent for a few seconds at a time. Victor 4S7VK reports that this second freq is a spur, which I guess explains why the signal was much weaker and sounded like it was having technical difficulties. Apr 13.

7225   TUNISIA.  RTV TUNISIA - Sfax.  Brilliant signal at 2145 in Arabic on a day when reception conditions were terrible! S/off at 2155, leaving CRI in the clear. Apr 12.

7225   PHILIPPINES.  VOA - Tinang. Korean at 1305, NF ex 7235 but crashes into China which also resides here. Apr 13.

7235   RUSSIA.  VoR - Irkutsk. Japanese service now here 1315, NF ex 5980, good signal. Apr 13.

7250   BANGLADESH.  Bangladesh Betar - Dhaka.  Nepali service noted at 1320 with news (mentions of Pakistan and Bangladesh). Difficult listening due to  Chinese music programs on both upper and lower adjacent channels. Apr 13.

7260   MONGOLIA.  Mongolian R. - Ulaanbaatar. Orchestral music and anncts at 1324, then started a new lecture program at 1330. Fair signal with heavy QRM from CNR2 on 7265. Apr 13.

7295   MALAYSIA.  RTMalaysia - Kajang. Traxx FM programming at 2157, time pips and ID in English, 2200 then more pops. Apr 12.. Then again at 1335 with a request program, solid signal on both occasions. Apr 13.

7315   IRAN.  VOIRI - Kamalabad.  NF ex 6080, for the Spanish service at 2110. Solid signal. Apr 12.

7335   CHINA.  CRI - Shijiazhuang.  NF ex 6020, for Spanish service 2215. Big signal. Apr 12.

7345   CHINA.  CRI - Kashi.  NF ex 7310 for Italian at 2120 to s/off 2128 and noted with a weak signal under the dominating Tunisia. Apr 12.

7430   ROMANIA.  RRI - Galbeni.  Noted in English at 2235 mixed with another station I couldn't identify, // 9540 also heard and s/off 2256. NF and believed to be ex 7380. Apr 12.

9445   KOREA.  VoK - Kujang.  Noted at 1100 s/on in Mandarin, NF ex 9345 but QRM from CRI’s Mandarin service on 9440. Runs // 7220 also heard. Apr 14.

12065   AUSTRALIA.  RA - Shepparton. NF at 1100 for the English service. Apr 14.

15725   PAKISTAN. R. Pakistan - Txer presumed to be Islamabad. Nepalese at f/in around

1015 with the telltale crappy audio. NF ex 15100 (as heard on Apr 3) and previously ex 15105 prior to A13 season changes. Runs // 17720 also heard fading in a bit later at 1035, but struggling there against CNR1 on 17725. Apr 14.

15400   PALAU   R. Free Kenyalang - Medorn.  Malaysian pop song at 0945 then political talk in the Iban language. Generally strong although some deep fades at times. Then squashed by an early s/on of HCJB - Kununurra at 0956. RFK s/off 1000. Apr 14.

17830   EGYPT.  R. Cairo - Abu Zaabal. Arabic service noted here at 1045, weak signal at first but checked back at 1145 and it had improved considerably. NF ex 17480. Apr 14.
