From the Logbook....

Some great DX over the past week, although reception conditions have been fairly poor on most occasions. Although not strong, there have been quite a few Latin American stations on 60 and 49mb. Certainly the highlight of the week was the logging of Brazilians on 60mb in my morning time - very rare. There is only a small window between 2100 and 2135 when they appear via the Antarctic, which in winter is mostly in darkness/twilight between Brazil and south eastern Australia. 4815, 4915, 4985 and 5035 kHz were spotted during this time on June 7.

4699.95   BOLIVIA.  R. San Miguel - Riberalta. Poor signal and disappearing at times only to return a few minutes later between 1035 and 1100, with songs on June 13.

4747.1   PERU.  R. Huanta 2000 - Huanta.  Songs, rapid adverts, and anncts inc. IDs from 1000, fair level, June 4. Also noted at 1025 on June 13 with lots of IDs and anncts.

4755.5   MICRONESIA.  The Cross Radio - Pohnpei.  American religious programming 1010, fair signal, June 4.

4810   INDIA.  AIR Bhopal - Madhya Pradesh. Hindi talk at 1450 then a lovely classical Indian song at 1454. Fair signal on June 9.

4815   BRAZIL.  R. Difusora Londrina - Londrina.  Presumed this at 2120, very weak on June 7. Will keep checking the freq over the next week or so.

4865   BRAZIL.  R. Verdes Florestas - Cruzerio do Sul. This is the one I believe I have been listening to for some weeks now. Finally go some ID on it! A series of pleasant ballads at 0950, ID at 1000. Then news commentary and the occasional advert. Talkback caller at 1015. Poor signal but better than in the past. I never seems to hear R. Alvorada though! June 13.

4870   INDIA.  R. Sedayee Kashmir, Kingsway.  Program of Kashmiri songs and instrumentals with Kashmiri anncts from 1502. At 1510, programming changed over to the characteristically tonal language of Dogri (a language spoken in the Himalayan mountains between Pakistan and Nepal). A long talk by one announcer till 1529 when there was a short Indian song to finish the transmission. Fair signal on June 9.

4880   INDIA.  AIR - Lucknow. Rapid speed Hindi talks and discussions at 1525. Time pips at 1530 then news in English. Fair signal but not as good as 4870. June 9.

4915   BRAZIL.  R. Daqui - Macapa.  At 2125 but very weak with talk and occasional song. June 7

4920   TIBET.  PBS - Xizang. S/on 2050 with anthem, ID and long list of frees, fair level and // 4905, June 7.

4955   BRAZIL.  R. Cultural Amauta - Huanta.  Difficult reception at 1010 with some sort of news program. It's a clear channel but the signal was weak and accompanied by atmospherics. Some music around 1020 but faded pretty soon after that. June 12.

4985   BRAZIL.  R. Brasil Central - Goiania. Weak and fluttery at 2102 with Portuguese talks. Gone by 2135. June 7.

5035   BRAZIL.  R. Aparecida - Aparecida.  Weak at 2112 with talk and occasional songs. Gone by 2135. June 7.

5915   ZAMBIA.  Zambia NBC Radio 1 - Lusaka. Last part of the transmission at 2159 with vibrant Afro song and closing anncts over the top, then after a 12 second gap the national anthem around 2202. Had been very strong at 2100 but quite weak by the s/off at 2202. June 7.

5995   MALI.  RTV Mali - Bamako. Weak and fluttery at 2150 with French programming to past 2215. June 7.

6165   CHAD.  R. National Tchadienne - N'Djamena. At 2226, I was setting up to record this fabulous signal and its jivey African music when it suddenly closed down - without any anncts or fanfare! No recording… :-(.  June 7

6173.9   PERU. R. Tawantinsuyo - Cusco. Poor signal and slight QRM China 6175, with music and and anncts from 0950 to past 1025, June 8.

6180   BRAZIL.  R. Nacional Amazonia - Brasilia. First noted 2145 then again 2220, not strong  but readable with various programs. June 7

9380   UZBEKISTAN.  North Korea Reform Radio - Tashkent.  Long talks in Korean at 1415 and is a NF, fair level with deep fades. Supposed to be // 7590 but I heard nothing there, June 9.

9705   OMAN.  BBC - A'Seela.  Dari service to West Asia at 1425 with talks and ID 1430. NF ex 9810, June 9.

9770   SRI LANKA.  SLBC - Trincomalee. Tamil service s/on 1115 to 1215, hopelessly swamped by Sth Korea's Vietnamese and Chinese. There are plans to move??  June 8.

11835   SRI LANKA.  PCJ - Trincomalee. Special Sunday evening program hosted by Keith Perron on June 9 to EAs and SEAs 1305 to 1400. NF ex 11750. Weak signal throughout the broadcast.

15180   DPR KOREA.  VoKorea - Kujang. In a band that goes to sleep at this time of the evening in our winter months, this was about the only interesting thing to be heard, save for a few CRI txers. English 1000 to 1056 aimed at SAm and CAm. Weak and fluttery into Mount Evelyn. The // 11710 was slightly better. The // 13650 and 11735 which are squirted towards SEA were superior channels. Happy revolutionary songs accompanied banjo (!!) and orchestra made for entertaining giggles on June 12.

15200   GUAM.  KTWR - Agana. Weak signal at 1045 with songs accompanied by gamelan orchestra, quite interesting - not sure if they were religious in content! In the Sundanese language for Indonesia, June 12

Have a great weekend everyone, and the best of DX,

73,
