Latin Stations Received With a Boost

After a few weeks of nothing much happening, finally we have some Latin American stations appearing on the tropical bands again. Nice to hear!!

3375.1   UNIDENTIFIED.  Noted at 1033 at a very low signal strength with music, but faded by 1040. I suspect this is R. Municipal and NOT R. Educadora, Brazil (as recently reported by another Australian DXer) but without an ID or any real identifiable programming, I'm reluctant to to say definitively that this was the one I heard. R. Municipal is regularly monitored by U.S. DXers, but I haven't seen a logging anywhere for R. Educadora in the last 12 months. Just because it's on a list somewhere (e.g. WRTH) doesn't mean it's active! An ID is the only way to confirm your monitoring. July 19.

4716.68   BOLIVIA.  R. Yura - San Antonio de Quijarro. Noted at 1048 with lively music and anncts in what sounded like Quechua (not Spanish!). Monitored on and off during the evening while scanning the rest of the band and noted f/out around 1135. Sometimes announces as "Radio Yatun Ayllu". July 19.

4785   BRAZIL.  R. Caiari - Porto Velho. This is definitely the one I can hear and ID at Mount Evelyn. Someone else reported hearing R. Brasil Campinas, but I don't think that station is even on the air these days!! At 0930 on July 19 and  regularly on other occasions. Caiari can even hang around till past 1100 on some nights!

4795.9   BOLIVIA.  R. Lipez - Uyuni, Potosí. Only heard the once so far this year at 0945. Mainly talk, then ID and news at 1000. voted to past 1100 with a Very weak signal during a rain storm at Mount Evelyn! July 19.

4805   BRAZIL. R. Difusora do Amazonas - Manaus. Didn't hear this one at all in the first half of the winder LA DX season, but is starting to pop up regularly here in Melbourne. Best time seems to be around 1000, and starts to fade around 1040. July 19.

4845.84   BRAZIL. R Cultura Ondas Tropicais - Manaus.  Comes in around 1015 and can still be heard past 1110, but with a very weak signal. Noted July 19 and 20.

4965   BRAZIL.  R. Alvorada - Parintins. After waiting all winter DX season, I finally heard this one here on July 19 with pop music programming at 1025, but faded by 1040. Generally a poor signal.

73 and good DX to all
