Ecuador, India, Botswana and more....

4781.67   ECUADOR.  R. Oriental, Tena, Napo. Finally heard this one for the first time this winter DX season! First noted at 1125 with songs and anncts, R. Oriental ID at 1130 and f/out by 1140. Not strong but in the clear on a night when Sth American signals were pretty poor, so this reception was a bit surprising!! Aug 24.

4971   INDIA.  AIR - Shillong. Plenty of carrier but not much audio at 1340 in Hindi with mainly talk and occasional local songs. This one has been irregular in operations, but now seems to be back again, as noted on Aug 15 and 20.

6000   CUBA.  R. Havana. English service first noted 0615, NF ex 6010 but poor signal, // 6125 which was the better option on Aug 23

6165   UNIDENTIFIED.  Suspect this may be Thazin Radio - Phin Oo Lwin, Myanmar. Noted at 1105 and monitored for 20 min before giving up. Asian style pop music for much of the time with occasional anncts. But very hard to hear with the much stronger co-channel CNR 6. Only really possible when China was in in talk-mode rather than playing music. Aug 24.

7225   AUSTRIA.  TWR - Moosbrunn. The 15-min Polish service, weekdays only 0545-0600. Impressive signal on Aug 23.

7345   MYANMAR.  Thazin R. - Nay Pyi Daw. Nice light Burmese pop music and anncts from 1040. Occasional "Thazin" ID and occasional mentions of Myanmar in that characteristic  lilting sing-song local style typical of the local languages of Burma. No ID at the top of the hour due to Myanmar's 6.5 hr time zone. CNR 1 came on late at 1101 which flattened Thazin….so that was the end of that!! Aug 24.

9380   UZBEKISTAN.  Nth Korea Reform R. - Tashkent.  S/on 1400 in Korean with military-style music and ID, then strains of "The Entertainer"!! Weak signal and // 7585 (which was much stronger and down 5 kHz from their old 7590 outlet) on Aug 21.

9885   BOTSWANA.  VOA - Moepeng Hill. French service to Af 0548, weekdays only to s/off 0600. Aug 23.

11985   FRANCE.  R. Algerienne - Issoudun. Very shaky start to the 5-min French transmission at s/on 0558. Rattling noise in the modulation, then constant switching on/off of the transmitter for another five minutes till it finally settled down. ID and brief news bulletin. Changed into the Arabic Qu'ran service at 0605. Massive signal but the audio appeared under-powered on Aug 23.

12025   BOTSWANA.  VOA - Moepeng Hill. English to EAf on Syrian nerve gas at 0534, fair on Aug 23.

13660   RWANDA.  TWR - Kigali. Weak signal at 1300-1315 for the Afar service to EAf, scheduled Thurs-Sun, and noted on Sat Aug 24.

13720   UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.  Sudan Radio Service - Dhabayya. Arabic service with talk and music at 0515 and monitored up till 0529 s/off after an ID, fair to poor signal on Aug 23.

15225   GUAM.  KTWR - Agana. The Assamese service with religious talks at 1325 to s/off 1345 after ID. Fair level on Aug 21.

15285   GERMANY.  R. Liberty - Lampertheim. Russian to Eu and CAs at 1350 to s/off 1357, NF ex 12025, Aug 21.

15360   FRANCE.  RFI - Issoudun. S/on 1428 with chat, then ID at 1430 in either Pashto or Farsi, then into news, poor signal with flutter fading, Aug 21.
