Religious Broadcasters and others!


Religious broadcasters dominated the logbook over the last few days!

 3185   USA.  WWRB - Morrison, TN. A very weak signal at 0800 when there was an ID (of sorts) and the usual preaching. Came back to it 15 min later and found it was smothered by TVI. Rarely heard here, Sept 26.

3215   USA.  WWCR - Nashville, TN.  A fair to poor signal but somewhat stronger than 3185 with preaching at 0810, Sept 26.

3925   JAPAN.  R. Nikkei 1 - Nemuro. Poor signal at 0815, with programming // to 6055. Usually picks up by around 0930, Sept 26.

5085   USA.  WTWW - Lebanon, TN.  I don't usually tune up this far on the 60mb, so I haven't heard this one for a long time. Now I remember why I don't come here more often!! Usual stuff at 0750 with a strong signal and some technical non-wizardry (rubbishy audio, music stopped mid-song, poor content delivery, etc), Sept 26.

5995   MALI.  RTV du Mali - Bamako. Always seems to have low audio here these days….but no audio at all today when checked at  2130 onwards, just a strong carrier to f/out 2220. Oh well, I guess it saves on programming costs! Sept 25.

6080   BOTSWANA.  VOA - Moepeng Hill. English to EAf at 2140 with the Classic Rock Show, featuring Santana and other heroes of the past. At a fair level when tuned in but by s/off 2200 it was pretty scratchy. No sign of CNR 1 on Sept 25.
6055   JAPAN.  R. Nikkei 1 - Nagara. Faded in here around 0630 (4:30 pm local time here), which is about as early as it gets between Japan and Mount Evelyn, considering it's an all-daylight path at that time! Japanese talk program on Sept 26.
6080.04   BRAZIL.  R. Marumby - Curitiba. Easy listening ballads and anncts, jingles around 0715 to past 0740. Hard to hear any earlier than 0700 when VOA-Pinheira is also coming in via the long path, but once VOA has gone, Marumby shines! Sept 26.

6105   GERMANY.  TWR - Nauen. Sounding almost exactly like Reverend Lovejoy from The Simpsons, this on-air preacher was presenting the English service to Eu at 0740, fair to poor signal, Sept 26.


7390   ALBANIA.   R. Tirana - Shijiak. Not sure why this was so strong all of a sudden on Sept 26 when the signal rose up out of the mud at 0709, stayed extremely strong for about four minutes and then collapsed back down into the mud again. Strange! Folk music program in the Albanian service to Europe.


11775   ANGUILLA & GERMANY.  Caribbean Beacon - Anguilla. Dr Gene Scott programming at 2015 underneath Overcoming Ministry via Nauen with Bro. Stair programming. Two different stations with similar messages. Why compete for one frequency when there're so many vacant channels available? Strange incompetency on display! Sept 27

11850   BULGARIA.   Overcomer Ministry - Kostinbrod. Br. Stair programming at 2026, very strong  and // 11775. At 2030, NHK's Madagascar relay s/on in French to WAf as well, but Kostinbrod is still much stronger. Sept 26

12140   SRI LANKA.  RFA - Iranawila. Cambodian service 2315 to s/off 2328 after talks, ID and Asian stringed instrumental music. This appears to be a NF, and shows up in the Aoki list as Iranawila, but someone else says Tinian, so I'm not sure. Sept 26.

15390   GERMANY.  Overcomer Ministry - Nauen. Bro. Stair programming at s/on 2100 to SAm (beaming 250˚) with a fair signal.  This is // 15620 which is also Nauen but directed to NAm (beaming 300˚), but the latter freq is much weaker, Sept 26
