India, Alaska, Oman last weekend

This Indian postage stamp above is one I held (in mint condition) for many years. Unfortunately, it has since become lost. Pity!

Anyway, on with the listening report.......

Some interesting stations heard last weekend, as noted below:

4990   INDIA.  AIR - Itanagar. Hindi service with a type of chanting and occasional anncts at 1345 and a fair to poor signal. The carrier was at moderate strength but the audio appears to be down somewhat. Oct 5.

5050   INDIA.  AIR - Aizawl. Always difficult to catch this one under Beibu Bay, but pleased to note it on Oct 5 with Indian songs in the Hindi service. I'd checked earlier around 1230 and heard nothing, so fade in must be some time after 1300.

5915   UNIDENTIFIED.  The station heard weakly at 1330 under CRI's Russian service is possibly Myanmar Radio, but with China's raucous music program it was impossible to tell the language of the other station, Oct 5.

7355.02   ALASKA.  KNLS - Anchor Point.  S/on 1200 for English service to FE, full ID and words of wisdom, then pop song. Difficult listening due to huge signal of CRI's Thai service 7360. Slightly off freq on Oct 5.

7595   UZBEKISTAN.  Nth Korean Reform Radio - Tashkent. Noted at s/on 1400 on NF (ex 9585) in Korean. Good signal and // 9380 also heard, Oct 5.

9525.88   INDONESIA.  RRI - Jakarta.  English weekend magazine program at 1320, fair signal Oct 5.

12095   PHILIPPINES.  FEBC - Bocaue. Hmong service to SEAs noted at 1115 with a long talk. Changes into Lao at 1130. Audio was somewhat distorted, not up to par by FEBC's usual standards, Oct 5.

15140   OMAN.  R. Sultanate of Oman - Thumrayt. Nice signal at 1410 with the English service to Eu and ME. Occasional IDs and almost non-stop American rock songs. Relays it's 91.4 FM service (ID confirmed this) with English news at 1430. Interesting listening on Oct 5 and not easily heard in this part of the world.

15240   GUAM.  KTWR - Agana. S/on 1300 in the Santali language with ID and straight into an Indian song. This language is spoken by more than six million people, mainly from India, although it can also be heard in Bangladesh and surrounding regions. S/off by 1315 on Saturdays. A beautiful signal on Oct 5.

15350   GERMANY.  Athmeeya Yatra Radio - Nauen. S/on 1230 in one of the many Indian languages  that this station specialises in - listed as Oriya on Saturdays! ID and station anncts with a beautiful signal, Oct 5.

15560   TAJIKISTAN.  Democratic Voice of Burma - Dushanbe.  S/on 1430 in Burmese with music and anncts, then into news. Strong signal on Oct 5.

I'm going away on holidays for a few days. Although I'm taking the radio with me, this is more of a photography trip than a DXpedition. But.....if I hear anything interesting, I'll let you know.

73 and have a great weekend everyone,
