DX FOCUS:
LATIN BONANZA - PART 2!!
For the second consecutive summer evening (see my last Latin post a few days ago), signals from South America are coming through here into Mount Evelyn. This time though, the 60 metre band is the one worth listening to, with stations from Peru and Brazil. So, add these to yesterday's list of 49mb logs!4747.1 PERU. R. Huanta Dos Mil - Huanta. Quite a good signal with talk, anncts and jingles at 1054, marred somewhat by TVI on Feb 21.
4810 PERU. R. Logos - Chazuta, Tarapoto. Noted in the Shuar language with mainly upbeat talk (and the occasional shout!) at 1010 and infrequent songs. Fair to poor level and spoilt by TVI, Feb 21.
4875.1 UNID. Believed to be R. Difusora Roraima - Boa Vista. Very weak signal at 1020 with music LA style music. Last year, this one drifted freq quite a bit, often up around 4876+ kHz, so I suspect it was this, but no ID copied so can't confirm. Faded by 1030, which happens with many of the 60 mb Brazilians as their morning progresses, Feb 21.
4925.22 BRAZIL. R. Educação Rural - Tefé. This was a tough one to hear last year due to the much stronger Korean MND station on 4925 kicking in a few minutes before 1000. However, now that MND no longer operates, the Brazilian can be heard unimpeded, which is just as well because it's not often a strong signal here. Noted at 1030 with music programming before f/out a few minutes later, Feb 21.
4955 PERU. R. Cultural Amauta - Huanta. Quite a nice signal at 1035 with news, then music (possibly religious). Sometimes this station broadcasts in Quechua, so you need to listen carefully to check. However, this night it was Spanish programming, fair level on Feb 21.
5035.06 BRAZIL. R. Aparecida - Aparecida. Not strong but heard with music and anncts at 1045 on Feb 21, faded by 1050. Should improve in strength over the next month or so. However, nothing heard on the // 6136.6 kHz on this occasion.
73's and have a great weekend everyone!
