SWAZILAND, BANGLADESH, VIETNAM and more!

SWAZILAND, BANGLADESH, VIETNAM and more!

A good variety of stations were noted several days ago in the early morning period in Melbourne between 1800 and 1930 UTC.  A nice signal from Bangladesh, Madagascar is still wandering around the 60 metre band, but it was disappointing to see TWR Manzini's signal being spoilt by DRM hash. Read on….

4765   TAJIKISTAN. Tajik Radio 1 - Yangiyul. Music program and anncts in Tajik for this national service at 1835. The signal was quite weak on this occasion, Feb 12.

4880   SOUTH AFRICA. SW Radio Africa - Meyerton. Fair signal with a political news program in English at 1845. Recorded ID at 1848. Some ute QRM on Feb 12.

4949.75   ANGOLA. R. Nacional de Angola - Mulenvos. The Canal A domestic service with a very poor audio level this morning despite a fairly good presence of the carrier. Mainly talks in Portuguese but with the occasional short burst of music from 1850, Feb 12.

5011.46   MADAGASCAR. R. Madagasikara - Ambohidrano. Pleasant and lively East African dance music a and anncts in Malagasy at 1820. Still exhibiting tenancies of frequency agility. In recent months I've heard it operating anywhere between 5010.25 and 5015.37! The carrier is quite strong but it could afford to give us a little more audio level, as noted on Feb 12.

6110   UNIDENTIFIED. I suspect this might be R. Fana - Addis Ababa at 1935. No ID  was noted but programming could be clearly heard under CRI's Russian service with talks and interviews in an African language. Interestingly, neither Fana's website nor Facebook page mentions any shortwave frequency. Feb 12.

7250   BANGLADESH. Bangladesh Betar - Dhaka. Nice signal for the English service to Eu. A  commentary at 1755, ID at 1801 as "This is the external service of Bangladesh Betar", then music. No sign of the scheduled co-channel AIR Malayalam service but there was slight splash from 7255 CRI's Russian transmission, Feb 12.

9690   AUSTRIA.  AWR - Moosbrunn. A lovely clear and strong signal with a very jivey African song at 1913, followed by a religious talk in a transmission targeted to central west African nations, Feb 12.

9730   VIETNAM. VoVietnam - Son Tay. English transmission to Eu with the Letterbox show at 1922. The signal was good but reception was marred by CRI's Portuguese service to Sth Eu on the same freq. They ought to try and fix this clash for the A14 transmission period.

9940   THAILAND. R. Thailand - Ban Dung. Just caught the final closing anncts of the Thai service  to Eu at 1858, followed by Big Ben-style clock chimes. Fair at s/off on Feb 12.

9940   SWAZILAND.  TWR Africa - Manzini. S/on 1905 in Lingala with full ID and bright n' breezy intro music, and then into a religious talk. Unfortunately, it copped quite a bit of DRM hash from AIR which was 10 kHz away on 9950!

11890   PHILIPPINES. R. Pilipinas - Tinang. News in Filipino at 1810 followed by the daily foreign exchange rates. Excellent signal for this service targeted at ME, and // 15190 also at an excellent level, Feb 12.

73's and have a great weekend everyone!
