FEBA Testing, Mongolia and More

In 2014, FEBA celebrates 50 years of broadcasting! And they were testing on 9720 kHz in English last night (March 5). Watch out for them again tonight!! Jose Jacob tells us that email reports can be sent to:

4870   INDIA. R. Sedaye Kashmir via AIR Delhi. 1440 in Kashmiri and mixed with RRI - Wamena, although India was the stronger signal at this time. Mar 5.

5050   CHINA. VoBeibu Bay Radio - Nanning. Vietnamese service with anncts and background music at 1435, ID at 1437. Solid signal on Mar 5.

6260   UZBEKISTAN. CVC VoAsia - Tashkent. Horrible signal quality at s/on 1400 for the Hindi service to SAs. Usually better than this! Mar 5.

7600   THAILAND. BBC - Nakhon Sawan. Sitting at the very top end of the 41 mb is this strong signal with the Hindi service to SAs at 1405, Mar 5.

9332   TAJIKISTAN. VoTibet - Dushanbe. Chinese talks at 1305, fair signal without jamming. Then right on 1315 UTC it hops frequency to 9338 kHz mid-program without a break and still no jamming on Mar 5.

9719.94   SRI LANKA. FEBA Radio - Trincomalee.  S/on 1330 with an English ID and freq annct for this test transmission. Then into preaching. Strong signal and a good choice of freq (although 60Hz off) with initially no QRM, but some slight splash from Iran on 9715 around 1345. Jose Jacob says it was running 125kW. S/off at 1400 after ID, telephone number and IS on Mar 5.

9950   TAIWAN. Nippon no Kaze - Taipei. Korean talks at 1310 with some light "industrial" sounding jamming in the background, otherwise a good signal on Mar 5.

11510   MOLDOVA. R. Denge Kurdistane - Kichinev. I found this while searching for VoTibet. Booming signal with a song at 1340, ID at 1342 and talk. Some background hum noted on the audio on Mar 5.

11859.65   CUBA. R. Havana. Off freq for the Spanish service to NAm at 1350, weak signal but nuisance enough to create a het with VoWilderness on 11860 on Mar 5.

12015   MONGOLIA. VoMongolia - Ulan Bator. Mongolian service at 1410 but no hope of really breaking through with VoKorea in French co-channel, then Iran signs on at 1420, making the freq pretty useless for all three stations! Hopefully someone will move out of here for the A14 season. Mar 5.

13630   UZBEKISTAN. CVC VoAsia - Tashkent. Hindi service with a long slow song at 0913, then a talk at 0916. Weak signal on Mar 1.

15725.02  PAKISTAN. R. Pakistan - Islamabad. Interval signal began at 1325, giving me plenty of time to measure the freq accurately. A short burst of the Koran at 1303 then a brief news summary in Urdu. Music at 1335. Scratchy audio and largely muffled throughout the transmission - the usual stuff! Mar 5.

17740   GERMANY. VOA - Lampertheim. Big signal with no evidence of jamming at 1415 for the Tibetan service. Programming included chanting by a Tibetan monk with that very deep throaty, raspy sound. NF ex 9670, Mar 5.

19010   KUWAIT. R. Azadi - Kuwait. Pasto service at 0935 with a discussion program. Not as strong as it has been in the past. Perhaps the recent solar activity had an influence on this occasion, Mar 1.

73's and good DX everyone
