EAST AFRICAN SIGNALS and more….!
Some great DX over the last few days……..7237.1 ETHIOPIA. R. Ethiopia - Geja Jewa. A weak signal and sandwiched between CRI 7235 and PBS 7240, and creating one almighty het with 7235. Noted with a long local ballad and French anncts at 1730. Difficult listening on Apr 10.
7250 INDIA. AIR - Panaji. There appears to be a serious txer fault here with a loud high-pitched squealing tone accompanying the audio in their Malayalam service at 1735. Pity, as it was a lovely strong signal but listening was difficult through this noise. Apr 10.
7450 GREECE. Helleniki Radiophonia - Avlis. Very solid signal with pop songs then a report on a protest march at 1844. Appear to intermittent operation at the moment, Apr 10.
11764.75 BRAZIL. Super R. Deus é Amor - Curitiba. Impressive signal strength for it's listed 10 kW! Just as good a signal as VOIRI-Sirjan 5 kHz below with its 500 kW!! Preachy programming at 0526, ID at 0528 then songs, on Apr 7.
73's and Best DX to all!

Thanks for the info Rob. I've been trying to get some of these East African stations over the past couple of weeks. I've had decent late afternoon / early evening signals from R Djibouti (4780) and VO Tigray Revoltion (5950) but no positive ID yet - due to fading and my son wanting to play football!! I have been enjoying the music though. R Deus E Amor comes in strong during the early hours, also R Voz Missionaria (9665) and R 9 de Julho (9820). Managed to get a great signal from ABC Northern Territory, Alice Springs (4835) the other day - not bad as I'm in Central England. I used to listen to shortwave as a teenager and recently returned after a 30 year break. Having great fun, though it's a very different scene now!!!

Hi Glen! Thanks for the great rundown on what you've been hearing in your neck of the woods! Some nice catches there. Yes, it's all changed now, and the variety is not the same as it was 30+ years ago. I started DXing in the late '60s, so I've also noted some big changes over the years. But….that's life! Nothing stays the same!! Thanks for the shout-out! Have a great weekend! Rob.
