WOOFFERTON TOUR UPDATE

I know I keep "banging on" about the Woofferton, UK transmitting station in the the MEDXR Blog. Previous posts were:

It's just that firstly, this is a fine example of a modern high powered transmitting site and secondly, it is becoming increasingly rare for radio enthusiasts to see up close the insides of shortwave transmitting stations as many of these are disappearing rapidly from active use.

 So, it is with pleasure that I advise that the latest of the Dave Porter (G4OYX) YouTube videos have just been released. In the past few days, he as uploaded four excellent videos on the "internals" of the 250kW and 500kW Riz transmitters. These senders do much of the heavy lifting in broadcasting powerful signals for the BBC, as well as relay duties for other broadcasters such as KBS World Radio, Voice of Vietnam, Radio Japan, IBRA Radio and the IBB.

 Dave is obviously passionate about his broadcast engineering background and is enthusiastic to ensure that these videos record a real-life transmitting station in operation, before the eventual closure of these facilities some time into the future. All credit to him (and his cameraman!) for taking the time to walk us through these fabulous facilities.
