LOGBOOK: PLENTY OF SOUTH AMERICAN DX!

Radio Verdes Florestas - Cruzeiro do Sul

LOGBOOK:
PLENTY OF SOUTH AMERICAN DX!

In southeastern Australia, wintertime has just arrived….along with some great DX! It was especially good to see some early morning Brazilian DX  in the 60 and 49 metre bands, with signals travelling south of Brazil, across the Antarctic and up into Mount Evelyn. Here's some listening observations from the past few days:

3310   BOLIVIA. R. Mosoj Chaski - Cochabamba. Briefly heard at 0915 with lively music and talk at quite a reasonable level through the noise, but faded and quickly disappeared by 0925, June 10.

4774.91   PERU. R. Tarma - Tarma, Junín. Noted around 1035 with chat and occasional songs, not strong and should improve over the next few weeks, June 11.

4865   BRAZIL. R. Verdes Florestas - Cruzeiro do Sul. I had the radio on in the background, sitting on this empty freq while I worked on the computer. Then over about five minutes around 1045, this station faded in with mainly talk and the occasional slow ballad. ID at 1102 then a longer talk, perhaps religious. Hangs around much later than most other Brazilians because it's over in the far west of the country. First time heard this year, fair to poor level on June 11.

4915.02   BRAZIL. R. Difusora Macapá - Macapá. One of those dual (and usually duelling!!) Brazilian channels at 0935 with Macapá here and R. Daqui on 4914.94 approx, creating a significant het and not much else. Noted to past 1010 on June 12. Last year, I didn't hear Macapá at all, so nice to see it appearing this time around, with excitable Brazilian pops.

4985   BRAZIL.  R. Brasil Central - Goiânia. Very weak signal via the all darkness winter Antarctic path at 2115, but gone by 2135 on June 10.

5015   USA.  Overcomer Ministry - Okeechobee FL. English programming with a serious technical fault at 0955, audio breaking up rather badly. Station address and ID at 1000, then the audio quality improved significantly once the Bro got into full flight! Fair to poor on June 10.

5939.85   BRAZIL. R. Voz Missionária - Camboriú. Noted at 2130 with music and discussions. Currently 5940 is clear of international broadcasters at this time, allowing the Brazilian to peep through unimpeded. Weak via the all dark Antarctic path on Jun 10.

6134.84   BOLIVIA. R. Santa Cruz - Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Happy Bolivian music and chirpy echo anncts at 0935. Not strong but always good listening, June 11.

6173.87   PERU. R. Tawantinsuyo - Cusco. Rapid-fire news and other anncts at 1005 f/in. Weak signal but was easily separated from CNR1 6175 by using LSB mode, June 11.

6180   BRAZIL. R. Nacional Amazônia - Brasilia. News reports at 2130, weak on June 10 and running // 11780 also heard via the Antarctic path. Also at 0930 on June 11.

11764.73   BRAZIL. Super R. Deus é Amor - Curitiba. Religious programming at 2155, weak on June 10.

11815.05   BRAZIL.  R. Brasil Central - Goiânia. Nice signal with occasional flutter fading at 2203 with news on June 10.

15344.49   ARGENTINA. R. Argentina al Exterior - General Pacheco. Passionate Argentinian songs at 2210, long pause with "dead air" at 2217, then into more anncts and songs 2219, fair to good on June 10. Runs R. Nacional programming on the weekends.

15640   PHILIPPINES. FEBC - Bocaue. In the Bai language to China at 1008 with a weak signal on June 6.

73s and have a great weekend everyone!
