 For the past two weeks, I've been away on the Central Coast of New South Wales, attending a reunion of some dear friends. And rather than make a mad dash back home to Mount Evelyn again, I took a few extra days to visit Canberra (our national capital) and part of the Australian Alpine region. Overall, a lovely time away while tallying up 2700 km in my car (the Orange Rocket!).

 During the trip, most of my time was focused on photography. However, yesterday, I spent lunchtime listening to the Tecsun PL-680 receiver in the Pheasant Creek Nature Conservation Reserve, near the little town of Tallangatta, northeastern Victoria. Driving through beautiful mountainous country was a real pleasure.

7260   VANUATU. R. Vanuatu - Port Vila, A whisper of a signal at 0220 f/in. Improved by 0330.

 9265   USA. WINB - Red Lion. 0237, English, Weak signal but great to hear it at this time.

 9480   UNIDENTIFIED. Perhaps BBC in English???  0235

 9545   SOLOMON ISLANDS. SIBS - Honiara 0225

 9550   IRAN. VOIRI - Kamalabad 0230 ID Spanish

 9570   ALBANIA. CRI - Cerrik. Mandarin to ENAm 0239

 9575   MOROCCO. R. Medi 1 - Nador. 0241

 9590   CHINA. CRI - Kashi. Spanish 0243

 9690   AUSTRIA. AWR - Moosbrunn. Punjabi 0245 to s/off 0300

 9710   CHINA. CRI - Kashi. 0243, // 9590 but 9710 kHz was a booming signal in comparison, 294˚ to Caribbean. but 9590 kHz is also Kashi 269˚ - hard to believe the difference in signal strength! Both 500 kW.

 11600   FRANCE. R. Denge Kurdistane - Issoudun. S/on 0259 with music, fair signal.

 11620   INDIA. AIR - Bengaluru. Urdu 0303, very good signal.

 11640   CHINA. CRI - Kashi. Weak scratchy signal, Hindi 0306.

 11660   IRAN. VOIRI - Zahedan. Qur'an service, 0307. Booming signal.

 11680   GERMANY. R. Japan - Nauen. Japanese to ME, weak signal 0309.

 11700   KUWAIT. Deewa Radio - Umm al-Rimam. Pashto 0310 with telephone talkback, fair signal.

 11730   CHINA. CRI - Kunming. Nepali 0311, weak signal.

 11760   CHINA. CNR 1 - Shijiazhuang. 0312. Weak signal.

 11780   BRAZIL. R. Nacional Brasilia - Brasilia DF. 0315, weak signal with a discussion program.

 11800   ROMANIA. RRI - Tiganesti. English 0317, fair signal.

 11825   ROMANIA. RRI - Galbeni. 0317 English, much stronger signal here than the // 11800.

 11840   CUBA. R. Havana - Quivican. SS 0320, good signal

 11860   SAUDI ARABIA. Rep Yemen R. Sana'a - Jeddah. Very good signal 0325 with music programming.

 11895   OMAN. BBC - Al Seela. Farsi 0330 with ID and changeover from Tashkent site. Excellent signal.

19 countries heard in a bit over one hour's worth of listening!
