Here is a demonstration of the sensitivity of the Tecsun PL680 portable receiver on a visit to Mount Prospect, near Daylesford, Central Victoria during a time of high geomagnetic storm activity. The 680 proves to be remarkably sensitive in detecting weak signals. Click on the YouTube video below for more details.....but watch out for the WILD ANIMALS!!

  1. Great DXing. I intend to do this too, specially now that summertime is approaching. The weak signal you got on 11780KHz could be from Radio Nacional da Amazonia from Brasilia-DF, Brasil. Most of the frequencies on your video I also tune here in southern Brasil. I wanted to purchase a PL-680, but first I'll give my PL-660 another chance. by trying and making a bypass that will stop that annoying squelch-like filter. I'll follow instructions from a Brazilian ham colleague who in turned learned from an Italian ham operator. Thanks for posting! 73

    1. Thank you Julio. There's probably not much difference between the 680 and the 660. Other people say that the 680 is a little more sensitive than the 660. But they say that the 660 is better on mediumwave. Any way, good luck with your 660 and good dxing for the coming summer months! Rob.
