SEASON A18 - PART 2
ANOTHER 50+ FREQUENCIES MONITORED
And as in my Part 1 post, I list a few less common DX signals that were not new frequencies but are just interesting DX observations. These include 7120 (R. Hargeisa), 7140 and 7180 (Voice of the Broad Masses), 7205 (Republic of Sudan Radio), 7236.36 (Voice of Peace and Democracy), 9455 (Bangladesh Betar) and several others.
5925 IRAN. VoIRI - Sirjan. Pashto to SAs at 1650, NF (believed to be ex 5935 via Ahwaz), weak signal, Apr 2.
5970 BOTSWANA. VoA - Moepeng Hill. French to Af at s/on 1959, NF and a fair signal, Apr 4.
5995 IRAN. VoIRI - Sirjan. Armenian to CEu at 1645, NF (ex 5945), fair signal Apr 2.
6040 SÃO TOMÉ. VoA - Pinheira. The Kinyarwanda service to EAf at 1950 (weekdays only), NF, a good signal, Apr 4.
6075 USA. KNLS - Anchor Point AK. Mandarin to EAs at 1305, NF and good signal, Apr 3.
❗❗ 6075 USA. KNLS - Anchor Point AK. English to EAs at 1405, NF but NOT a good choice as R. Taiwan Int’l and its accompanying CNR 1 jammer already occupy this freq from B17, so KNLS suffers heavy QRM, compared to its good signal in the previous hour, Apr 3.
6080 BOTSWANA. VoA - Moepeng Hill. English to Af at 1945. Previously listed in B17 as via Pinheira, São Tomé at this time. Fair signal, Apr 4.
👍 6130 SWAZILAND. TWR - Manzini. Portuguese talks to Angola at 1940, good signal, Apr 4.
6145 ENGLAND. KBS World R. - Woofferton. French to WEu and NAf at 1935, NF and now on 1-hr earlier for A18, good signal, Apr 4.
6170 GERMANY. VoA - Biblis. Kurdish to ME at 1927, NF (ex 9515), good signal and // 7225 also well heard, Apr 4.

👍👍 7180 ERITREA. Voice of the Broad Masses - Asmara. The Network 2 program to EAf in the Arabic language service at 1810, with anncts and Afro pops, weak signal, (7140 seemed slightly stronger here), Apr 4
7205 SUDAN. Rep of Sudan Radio - Al-Aitahab. Arabic interview to EAf at 1826, fair signal, Apr 2.
7235 IRAN. VoIRI - Sirjan. Albanian to SEu at 1830, NF (ex 7305), fair signal but listened in LSB to avoid Ethiopia 7236.3 kHz, Apr 2.
👍👍 7236.36v ETHIOPIA. Voice of Peace and Democracy - Geja Jewe. At 1830 in the presumed Tigrinya language to EAf, frequency drift observed while listening for only 5 min, eventual s/off at 1838. The audio was a bit scratchy at times although a good signal, but listening in USB mode avoided VoIRI 7235, Apr 2.
👍 7254.92 NIGERIA. VoNigeria - Abuja. English to WAf at 1835 with news talks and occasional music, weak signal, Apr 2. Wolfgang DF5SX advises that this is coming from the Abuja site (NOT from Ikorodu), using Ampegon transmitters, because the Ikorodu site is in such a dilapidated condition.

👍👍 7505 USA. WRNO - New Orleans LA. Mandarin at 1015, address given in English at 1026. A permanent addition to the A18 schedule??? Fair to weak signal, Apr 4.
7540 THAILAND. VoA Deewa R. - Ban Dung. Pashto to Afghanistan at 1850 until s/off 1859, NF (was using 9370 kHz via Ban Dung in B17), good signal, Apr 2.

ONLINE STATION SCHEDULES
When it comes to online information, a few broadcasters are very slow at updating their websites with their latest transmission schedules. Here are a few links to stations that have now refreshed their websites for the A18 transmission season:
SOUTH KOREA - KBS World Radio - click the download button on their webpage here for a pdf of their schedule in all languages.
GERMANY - Deutsche Welle - their pitiful shortwave schedule is a pdf download here.
NEW ZEALAND - R. New Zealand International's schedule webpage is here. It's worth checking this during the A18 transmission season as they are pretty good at updating any frequency changes as they happen.
TAIWAN - R. Taiwan International has a modest English service these days!
USA - WRMI's schedule can change frequently, so it's worth checking out the Click Here button at the top of this web page to take you to a Google Docs file.
JAPAN - Radio Japan's complete PDF schedule in all languages is here!
CLANDESTINE - The broadcasting broker Alyx & Yeyi manage the shortwave releases for a number of "unofficial" broadcasters such as Denge Welat, Suab Xaa Moo Zoo, Radio Xoriyo, Radio Voice of Independent Oromia, and several other stations. The schedule can be found here, but it's sometimes not always up-to-date.
OK! So, I hope all this helps you navigate the shortwave bands over the next few months.
73 and have a great weekend everyone!
