Recording - NIHON SHORTWAVE BROADCASTING (NSB) - From 1973
Nihon Shortwave Broadcasting Co. LtdNSB - TokyoFrom 1973
I am trying to rescue some of my early DX recordings from the 1970s. Some tapes are deteriorating rather badly, so I am digitising the audio before I lose them forever!
This is an archival recording of NSB, the Nihon Shortwave Broadcasting Co. Ltd in 1973. This is the only private shortwave broadcaster in Japan and the language used is almost exclusively Japanese. In 2004, the station's name was changed to Radio Nikkei, and it is still heard in many parts of the world today.
This recording was made from Melbourne, Australia on May 30, 1973 on 6055 kHz. It includes the opening and closing announcements of the English program Let's Learn Japanese, ID and time check. The receiver used was a Lafayette HA230 with a dipole antenna.
