A MICRO DXPEDITION TO EAGLE'S NEST
July 22, 2022


I have just returned from a winter afternoon's DXing at Eagle's Nest in the Silvan Forest. This is a great location for DXing because it has a very low noise floor, allowing for weak signals to peek through - even when there is no reading on the radio's signal strength meter!

I took onboard the Tecsun PL680 receiver and a random length wire antenna about 30 metres in the trees at about 2.5 metres high. My listening stretched between 0200 and 0400 UTC (12 noon to 2 pm local time), and I noted many signals between 7 and 21 MHz. Below is a video of this little DX trip.
