DX QUICK TIPS - August 20, 2022
DX QUICK TIPSAugust 20, 2022
Reception conditions have been quite variable over the past week, with both good and bad patches. It was great to see Nigeria back on air after an absence. Also noted was Algeria using their new transmitter on 7430 kHz. Channel 292 is still being heard via the long path despite winter drawing to a close here.

6155 AUSTRIA. R. Austria Int'l - Moosbrunn. 0545 German to Eu, classical orchestral music, poor signal at first but improved slightly before s/off, Aug 18.
ππ 7254.94 NIGERIA. Voice of Nigeria - Abuja. 0618 in Hausa to WAf, discussion program, occasional mentions of Nigeria. 0630 - A few seconds of the usual crazy wind instrument music and into news reports and interviews with many mentions of Nigeria. This station has been missing for months now. Great to see it back again. Fair to poor signal until s/off at 0658. Then at 0713, the carrier returned with a high-pitched variable tuning tone for several minutes, then an open carrier noted until I finally quit monitoring at 0810. It seems like the 0700 Fulfulde and 0800 English services have not been restored yet. Aug 20.

I have had some very positive feedback from my recent Retro Receiver Review on the Panasonic RF-4800/4900 (a.k.a. DR-48/49). Thanks to all for your kind words. We add to this series on an occasional basis, so watch out for reviews of more receivers in the future.
73 and have a great weekend, everyone!
